Kenilworth Organic Produce is now part of The Village Organic Farm, where we are dedicated to producing the best quality foods for ourselves, our family, friends and you!
Organic certification is on the way but meanwhile be assured that we will continue to graze the same happy hens on organic pasture and provide them with certified organic feed and clean water.
In October 2006, we bought a few hundred chickens and accompanying infrastructure and we're now in the egg business, trading as Kenilworth Organic Produce. To clarify, The Village Organic Farm is the umbrella business and we are still running our dairy and beef herds, poultry, bees and the General Store under TVOF. We intend to market the eggs under TVOF at some future point but it was better for our inherited customers to keep brand continuity during the ownership transition.
As often happens in business, we had to act on this opportunity quickly and there was little time to prepare. We had to hit the deck running, ie day one = 600 eggs to be washed, packed and labelled. Two months on, operations are still getting organised but we're very excited about how this venture will integrate with the other farm activities. The chooks seem happy and the feedback is that the customers are very happy with the quality of our eggs. Demand has increased to the point where we could increase production by 50% and still not meet it. On the down side, a few weeks after we took over, the price of organic grain rose by 33%! May this drought break soon...

Gone Fishing...
(for information)
Winter is a time for inner reflection – the fallow fields
re-build fertility and the energy of the farm is subtle and regenerative. And so we are using this opportunity to build fertility of
our minds and spirits, and to
embrace this time for contemplation and inner work.
We are embarking on a journey that will take us to five countries, visiting farms, food producers and markets. On the way, we will gather information, be inspired and seek clarity on what the future holds.
Meanwhile, The Village Organic Farm is lying fallow. The farm itself is not producing anything: we have packed up the equipment, sold or agisted the animals and put the business to sleep. Not shut down, just resting…
